Privacy Notice

Lumen Catechism is a parish catechesis application. This notice explains the information used during the current pilot and how students, catechists, and administrators can manage it.

Information we use

We store account details such as name, email, parish, class year, role, and approval status. The app also stores lesson progress, quiz results, attendance, assignments, prayer and habit progress, service or faith hours, portfolio fields, and journal entries that a user chooses to save.

Who can see it

Students can access their own information. Authorized catechists can see roster details and measurable formation progress for students in classrooms they manage. Private lesson reflections, prayer intentions, and journal text are not included in catechist progress views. Application administrators can manage accounts and classroom access.

Service providers

Supabase provides authentication and database services, and Vercel hosts the application. Questions entered into Ask Lumen are sent to Magisterium AI to generate a response. Students should not enter private, identifying, safeguarding, counseling, or confession information into AI chat.

Retention and requests

Program administrators should retain student data only while it is needed for catechesis and parish recordkeeping. A user or parent/guardian may contact the parish program administrator to request access, correction, export, or deletion, subject to applicable parish and sacramental-record obligations.

Safety

Lumen is a learning tool, not an emergency, counseling, confession, or safeguarding reporting channel. Concerns about immediate safety should be shared with a trusted adult and the appropriate civil or church safeguarding contact.
